The Beginning Part 2.....

So yeah , We are here now, guys I cant even greet because i know you want to hear  what happened next ,  so no time for the "Hello Hi Everyone intro"πŸ˜‚

Well , I just said it.... Anyway.

We landed at O.R Tambo International airport and had to wait for the host my brother got for us  and guess what ? Its a beautiful hearted white lady and I call her Tannie Erika . She took us home , I call it home because she made me feel like its my home too.

The following day, I had a consultation with Dr Andri Neumann - she is a  Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon @14:30 , mind you I am still not understanding what all these doctors are going to do to me  so I was obviously still just in my happy element. So to brighten up my day before the appointments ,my dad decided to take me to the mall, after that, Tannie took us for sight-seeing, I truly enjoyed myself . We went to Menlyn Mall and yohh the mall is HUGE πŸ˜‚ I remember so well how much we wanted to go to the other side of the mall but just ended up at the same shops all over again because we are not even noticing that we're just going in circles πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. |Ofcourse my dad did some major shopping for me  and everybody back home...

This is us in the mall...

In my head I am thinking to myself why cant they wait for me to be discharged then we can go to all these places because I will tog be fine😳. At 14;30, it was another moment of truth.... tannie came to pick us up and we were off to Centurion ( its a location where people reside and work etc, like Klein WindhoekπŸ˜‚) and that is where  Dr Neumann's practice was/is. When we got there , she greets us with a warm warm smile and then she asks if she can hug me, so i was like yeah sure , come to think of it now , i think she maybe felt pity for me and what I was going through and still have to go through... before you  ask  if i was feeling any pain before the operation, the answer is no, NO i honestly was not feeling pain, at all.

So yeah , Dr Neumann tells me what she will be doing to me in the theater room and so forth, which was basically , if you are wondering, to remove a fibula bone from my right leg and reconstruct a new jaw with it because the old one has to be removed. Remember those words , reconstruct new jaw. After that i had an appointment  @ 15:30 with the main Dr W. Kluge at his practice at the hospital itself , remember the Kloof Hospital I mentioned in part 1 ? yeah so  this is the  man behind the correct construction placements , he is  also a Maxiofacial surgeon like Dr Koepp , he is the one I was referred to. He tells me the procedure that he is going to do and that   it will most likely take 5 hours to successfully complete the process, this is the guy that ensures that when they have to go put back my braces and new teeth, there wont be any complications with the new jaw while, Dr Neumann ensures that everything is placed in its place correctly, that there is no internal bleeding and all the veins are connected well, if it were up to me I would say she had the biggest part to play in this... I'm joking , all my doctors did a lot.

We then had to go to the hospital reception to go fill in the admission form for tomorrow and have everything set and ready, of course there were so many complications there too but that's a story for another day. After all of this was done Tannie came to pick us up at the hospital and she took us home , i think this was around 17:30.

I was honestly very tired, butTannie had prepared dinner so she insisted we eat before I go to bed.

See video below of us having dinner...🍜🍚🍠

Just for interest sake, all that happened on the 27th February. I was booked for admission on the 28th and operated on the 1st March 2017. So the admission day came, I woke up fully ready  and still not nervous . My dad was packing my toiletries and stuff for me .

We went to the hospital only around 16:00 because that was the admission time for me, got in the wards then this feisty German lady walked in and we started having conversations auf deutsch,oh she is a doctor by the way, I kinda forgot her name , well I do not even remember if she told me her name because she told me she has some sweets for me, she gave me some and the next moment i woke up in ICU.............................................

At this point i just want to stand tall with everyone battling cancer, lost their life to cancer... I am with you. We are together😭😭😭

The Process......

I had 7 doctors operating on me, each with their own role to play. The operation according to the doctors and my dad took 13 hours.. you can just imagine how it was probably so tough in there. My dad was told that when i come back from theater, I will be taken to ICU so he basically came after every hour to see if i was there, he was apparently counting the hours until he noticed that 5 hours that he was told by the doctors has passed, so he came to ask the nurses where I am and they told him I am still in theater, after 2 more hours he came again , "is she okay "? and they still told him the same thing again. There is a beautiful restaurant in the hospital where he was apparently sitting during the waiting time, but still he was just wondering if I was okay . After the 5th hour, he came again and he decided he'll just sit there and wait for me , he waited and waited. At the 13th hour he saw me coming in and i was on life support , I had a lot of machines connected to me, although i was totally totally swollen, he could still recognize that its me.

I was not awake for a whole week, I was just laying in bed and my dad would come spend time next to me everyday even if I would not say a word , I was sleeping for all those days, would not even feel anything, the early morning injections , the cleaning me up , nothing at all. During this time one of my uncles came to pay a visit and I did not even see him I was just told later, he flew in from Namibia to come visit us. My dad's friend also came to give moral support to him because I can imagine how he felt, going back to your room everyday without even having heard a word from the person you came to visit is heartbreaking.I am however sure that everyday he would wake up with a hope that it will at least be better, but nah, for 7 days, its been the same.

After those 7 days of having the most peaceful sleep, I woke up. I could still vividly remember the joy I saw on my dad's face when he walked into the room, the guy was just smiling and tearing up and looking at me so much πŸ˜‚πŸ˜.

Right after I woke up I got a Speech Therapist doctor because they claimed I would not be able to talk because of the tracheostomy I had.

[ A tracheostomy is a medical procedure — either temporary or permanent — that involves creating an opening in the neck in order to place a tube into a person's windpipe. The tube is inserted through a cut in the neck below the vocal cords. This allows air to enter the lungs.]

But because the God I serve is BIG , STRONG AND MIGHTY, I could actually talk and remember some of the stuff like my name, although I did not know my surname , I knew the password of my phone and I could count from 1-10. That for a person with a condition like mine is a cause for celebration🍷

You see the tracheostomy.. a lot of machines and pipes were removed at this stage because this is day 18 in ICU.....

I will definitely in the continue in the next post..

With Love
